New Census Numbers Point to the Need for Children’s Health Coverage

The Census Department released new figures today on the number of children living in extreme poverty and who lack health insurance.  Read the Census press release.

The figures show that Oregon legislators on both sides of the aisle must make health care coverage for children a top priority during the upcoming legislative session.

The Oregon Health Fund Board, created during the 2007 legislative session and tasked with developing a comprehensive plan to make health care affordable and accessible to all Oregonians, will be soliciting public feedback on its proposal this coming September.

The Oregon Foster Youth Connection (OFYC) is comprised of young people between 15-25 years of age who have personal experience in the foster care system and an interest in strengthening the policies that governed their experiences.

The mission of this group is to use first-hand experience, combined with best-practices research, to educate lawmakers, administrators and the community about the unique issues facing foster youth.  Get more information.
